In 2016, media personality and entrepreneur, Tshepo “Dj @ Large” Kgapane embarked on a journey to foster learning and spark a change in the way that young South Africans, think and plan for their financial futures. He realized that young people of his age lacked the necessary tools, information and discipline to propel them to their financial emancipation. His passion for finances led him to the creation of the Youth Money Circle (YMC) event. This free event aimed to educate young people about money, savings and investments through real and unconventional group dialogue and debate pinned on the experiences of others. In August 2016, his dream of creating an atmosphere of change was realized. He held the first ever Youth Money Circle at St Stithians College alongside, Simon Brown (Financial market commentator), Charles Savage (Purple Group CEO), Lungile Msibi (Brand manager of Emperor Asset management) and Bruce Kgapane (Businessman and property developer). The event was a success.
